The Only Honest Commercial - Grasshopper

I think I may have discovered the only honest commercial. It contains a slug line that’s not only sublime . . . but totally accurate.

Now, to my ears, most commercials carry at least a whiff of hype – a dash of overstatement, a sprinkle of embellishment.

But not this one.

The company’s still doing business, but they haven’t used this profound slogan since the 1970s.

And here’s what’s interesting . . . The phrase didn’t describe the quality of their merchandise.

It didn't brag. ?It didn’t promise.
It simply gave us a direction to find our creative self.

Maybe you remember their musical phrase: “Fall into the Gap.”

Catchy. Harmless. Just retail, right?

Except . . . they didn’t realize it, but they were pointing us toward the only way we ever discover anything new:

The gap.

Not the store. The space.

The gap I’m talking about is the one that shows up between your thoughts. That tiny interruption in the stream of thinking.

When the mental chatter pauses . . . even briefly . . . there it is.
And it’s in that gap that creativity lives.

You won’t think your way to something new. If thinking alone could do it, we’d all be geniuses by noon.

Something new slips in when thinking slips out.? You stop for a moment . . . and make room for a burst of creativity

That’s just the way the mind works.

When it’s jammed with thoughts, there’s no room at the inn. But give it space – real space – and watch what floods in to fill it.

Don’t take my word for it. Test it.

Find a mind-quieting exercise that works for you and put it to use.

Here’s the result: You’ll “fall into the gap” and be amazed at what you can produce.

All the best,
John
